Kogi State Government Confirms Case Of Lassa Fever
Kogi state government has affirmed an instance of Lassa fever in Angwan Kura in Lokoja, the state's capital.
The affirmation was made by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna Audu, after a male patient who is an occupant of Angwan Kura, detailed at the restorative focus with signs and manifestations suggestive of haemorrhagic fever.
As per him, the patient's blood test was promptly sent to the assigned research center at the Federal Specialist Hospital Irrua, Edo State for investigation by the state disease transmission specialists which tried positive.
The patient was later exchanged to the Federal Specialist Hospital in Irrua for ideal care.
"State Rapid Response Team was summoned and arrangements were made for the source/contact following and prophylactic treatment for restorative faculty who had contact with the patient before his exchange.
"The sum total of what these have been finished up as each one of the individuals who have had contact with the patient are presently being nearly observed.
"Note that it was found that the patient had ventured out to Ilorin, Kwara State where he had remained for two weeks.
" He just created indications of haemorrhagic fever two days after his arrival. We are along these lines questionable whether he gotten the infection there or here in Lokoja."
